Gamesaves.de closes it’s doors

In some sad news, Gamesaves.de, a great resource for PAL gamesaves on several formats is closing it’s doors.

Quote from Gamesaves.de:

Gamesaves.de will go offline in the next days/weeks, and won`t come back again.

About the reasons: Gamesaves was a project that I`ve made just for fun .
but now it isn`t any longer fun for me, that`s why I can`t see any reason why I should invest more time and money for it.

For now I wanna say thanks to all our User, who did help to let become Gamesaves such a big projext. And I wish you much fun with playing your favorite games.

File Compare program and guide

EMS, makers of the PS2 Memory Adapter have started their own guide to save hacking, whilst it mainly focuses on Gamecube saves the same principles apply to PS2 Saves.

Along with the guide they have presented a simple but effective tool for save comparisons, you can use this tool on both .psu saves and .xps/.sps
Ideally with PS2 saves you should compare sliced save data leaving out excess items such as the icon, icon.sys and Xport comments.

My EMS adapter died

It’s finally failed and no longer wants to work. This is an annoying problem, but it means I might start looking at making a software convertor faster than I would have planned.

I’m still going to try to fix it though…

What’s going on

Just a small update to let you know the status of various projects and what’s going on behind the scenes.

Save Slicer:
Beta 3 is on the cards, bug fixes include the detection and removal of non-windows characters and I might try to squeeze in full nPort conversion without the need for npo-x.exe. If I’m successfull then you know what I’m going to make next….

Save Text Editor:
No progress since last time mainly due to real life getting in the way, however the part that needs code is not a major task and a beta will be made available to members as soon as I finish it

PS2SIDC:
Until now this has been only a little more useful than using a hex editor and a damn sight slower.
I plan on totally scrapping the existing gui + code and programming a much neater, faster and advanced version that should work with 100% of saves rather than the current 99%

All projects:
nPort support will be added to all existing programs.
