Save Slicer Beta 2 and update check problems…

Save Slicer Beta 2 is nearly ready, this time featuring full conversion to nPort format. Incidently I was using the wrong command flag in BETA 1, use a instead of -a

Update Check is down…
Well my access to the server that controls Update Check is, until further notice you will not be able to accurately check for new versions of programs from PS2 Save Tools, this will be addressed in future updates though, starting with Save Slicer Beta 2

Save Slicer 1.3 BETA available to members

Added support for nPort saves
Auto naming of sliced sections
Auto preperation of saves for nPort conversion

Auto preperation creates a correctly named folder and slices a save into sections placing them in the folder in preperation for nPort conversion, it even provides the correct command to create the save with npo-x.exe

Unfortuantly I was unable to pass command line arguments to npo-x.exe and check on it’s status, so auto conversion is not included with this release, perhaps in a future tool….

Save Slicer update

Just updating this as I type, here’s the change-log so you know what to expect.
I should have a beta available to members either today or tomorrow

* Auto-naming of sliced sections
* Support for nPort saves
* Automaticly slice a save and build an nPort save from the sections (still being programmed in, requires the npo-x.exe included with nPort)

nPort sections added to the FAQ

As indicated I’ve added an nPort section to the FAQ and I am working on implementing .npo support into the existing programs here.

Site expansion

I’ve added the documents section to the website and there’s no better way than to start than with an excellent PDF guide to the PS2 icon format by Martin Åkesson. I’ll be adding a great document on the Action Replay 2/GameShark2 code save format by NOVICE in a few days.

I’ve also added a new downloads section, PS2 Save Development, here you will find some useful stuff, starting with Martin Åkesson’s great C library for icons, you can use this to help create your own programs in C for dealing with PS2 save icons

I might change the site around a little to accomodate these great new additions, but we’ll have to see how succesfull I am

If you have anything to contribute to these new sections, or indeed any part of the site, please don’t hesitate to get in touch

OSX software update

Some great news about the MAC software for the EMS USB Memory Card Adapter, g-epux was sent my way yesterday, I’ll let Martin tell it in his own words

The program will be able to backup a whole card aswell as
restore it later, it will also be possible to download/upload single
savegames

He was also generous enough to include a screenshot

Create your own Memory Card icons

Yup, it’s time to put your face on a save

Sjeep, a homebrew developer for the PS2 has released bmp2icon, a useful tool that will create a valid PS2 icon out a 128×128 24bit bmp with the choice of three shapes.

Grab this great tool from Misc Downloads section

No development for a short while

I’ve just fitted a new hard drive to the PC so I can do DV editing, due to this I have reorganised my system layout and reinstalled Windows. I have not got round to installing any development software yet so there will be no program updates until I get organised again
