Exploit save file collection complete

Thanks to Acid-Jazz we now have a complete selection of PS2 Independence Exploit save files, grab the latest edition to the family here

I’ll take this oppotunity to reiterate MRBrown’s disclaimer on the exploit, usage for the pirating of software or to load pirate software will not be supported or tolerated, the intention of the exploit was to allow loading of legitimate 3rd party ‘homebrew’ software.

PS2Link memory card fix and PAL Xport MCLoader save

As posted on PS2dev.org by Adresd

“If anyone is having problems loading PS2LINK from memory card, most notably using the ps2reality loader or the exploit.

The archive (available here) has been updated to include a file called ‘ps2link_forcemc.elf’.

This elf forces loading of the IRX files and the IPCONFIG.DAT from mc0:/PS2LINK/

This is not a permanent solution but has been added as a temporary measure as many people have requested versions to work with various loaders.

If you are experiencing problems, make sure the required files are in ‘mc0:/PS2LINK/’ then place that elf wherever you want for the loader you are using, and run it. It will then load the files from that fixed location.

This only applies to those experiencing difficulties, and this is being looked at for the next release of PS2LINK.”

On a similar note, Nachbrenner has graciously provided some prebuilt Xport saves, you’ll find those here

“The POKE in copy.cnf fixes a bug, w/o PS2Link would try to read from host. As usual: this will overwrite old saves”

Quick update

Just a quick note to let you all know what’s happening, when I get some time I’ll clean up and fix the Save Slicer 1.3 source code, at which point I will offer it for download.

I’m also considering making a DLL that people can include in their own software which would allow then to access details of a save, for example where the beginning and end of a section is, names of all the sections of a save etc etc, if there’s anything in particular you would like to see drop me line 🙂

I’m working my way through the backlog of email I currently have, if you haven’t heard from me recently then I apologise and should get back to you within a few days.

acid-jazz, send me an email, I’ve not got a contact address for you that I can find 🙂

Internet worms strike again

*sigh*

Yet another worm, this one called Mydoom, has spread around the world, 99% of my email today contained it. Thankfully I was running upto date virus definitions and I remain unaffected.

This worm spoofs email addresses, please read up on how the worm propogates itselfs via email, delete any suspicous emails immediately and run an upto date virus checker.

Be assured that any emails you receive that appear to be from an @www.ps2savetools.com address and contain this or any other worm did not originate from that address. This worm, as others do, scans through infected machines contact lists and sends itself on using addresses found within, which means someone who has my email address on their system is now infected :-/

GamePhoenix beta launched

GamePhoenix is a Java save manager, utilise plugins to enhance existing save, edit them with a built in hex editor and more.
Java 1.4 is required to use this program, download it here

There are two ways to start the app –

1. Double click on the jar file
2. from the command line, when in the GamePhoenix directory use:
java -jar GamePhoenix.jar

Feedback is appreciated 🙂

.psu format update

Just a quick update on the .psu file format from acid-jazz:

“The 16th and 17th byte of the header is the start sector address to write the file content to. It appears that the Memory Card might be formatted as a FAT12 file system or at least something inspired by FAT12.”

It also seems that he is working on a new utility, more news as we get it 🙂

Spring clean finished

I’ve removed dead links and dud info from the site as well as adding new information into the FAQ section 🙂

.PSU format docs and XPSTool gui

You can find acid-jazz’s breakdown of the .psu save format here, it’s not fully complete and if you can add to it get in touch 🙂

Also added today its a plugin for Total Commander that allows you to browse Xport/Sharkport v2 saves as if they were folders, download it here

Note: This plugin requires and is packaged with XPSTool as it is essentially a gui for the interface 🙂

I’ll be weeding out old information over the weekend and updating the FAQ accordingly with new information such as:

The Action Replay 2.35 released in Europe and the UK is fully capable of restoring GTA3 and GTA:VC saves, use this disc if you do not have or cannot obtain an Xport v2.23

No responce to contact form?

I’m back on the net at last, my connection is flakey and requires an engineer called out to fix it but I’m able to update the site at least (once I pay for some more space that is, whilst I was disconnected we reached and then exceeded our server limit)

Not had a responce from an email or query sent via the contact us page? Please get in contact again, a lot of email has fallen by the wayside during my absence, if you still need assistance or answers feel free to drop me a line 🙂

Forthcoming updates:

acid-jazz’s .psu format documentation
A gui by Slv for XPSTool
FAQ updates
Misc updates on the site (removal of dead links/info etc)

Download software via the Network Adapter

Utilising the PS2 Independence Exploit a new system called Send0r has been created where you can download homebrew software via the Network Adapter and an unmodded PS2.

For more details check out www.send0r.com, if they haven’t uploaded some Xport files by Monday I will get some sorted and uploaded. I’ll cover this in more depth when I get a chance to try it out.

I think I should go on Holiday or loose my net connection more often, all the interesting developments happen when I’m not around to witness them 😉
